A tree skirt hides the stand, catches falling needles and gives your presents a soft place to sit. But if it's too small it disappears under the branches, and if it's too big it swamps the room. Here's how to get it right.
Step 1: Measure the spread of the lowest branches
With your tree set up, measure across the widest point of the lowest branches, from tip to tip. This is the number that matters most, more than the tree's height.
Step 2: Choose a skirt slightly wider than that spread
For a full, finished look, pick a skirt a little wider than the lowest branches so the edge peeks out all around. If you'd like room to arrange presents on top, go a size up.
A general guide
- Tabletop and small trees (up to about 4–5 ft): around 30 in
- Medium trees (about 5–6 ft): around 35–36 in
- Larger trees (about 7 ft and up): around 48 in
Tree shapes vary a lot (slim, full, flocked), so always check your own branch measurement first.
Step 3: Match the style to your decor
A plain white plush skirt reads like fresh snow and works with any ornament palette. A white skirt with gold snowflakes adds a little sparkle for gold-and-white themes.
Our Plush White Christmas Tree Skirt comes in 30.7 in (78 cm), 35.4 in (90 cm) and 48 in (122 cm), plus a gold snowflake style in 35.4 in.
